I’m so sorry to hear about Matty, I wish we’d stayed in touch. He was one of the good ones during our time at Neston (even if he did occasionally pinch my food at lunch) and I’m sure he continued to be a wonderful person. I wish his family and loved ones all the love I can give.

I am posting on behalf of my late husband, Henry Smith. He was Matt’s scout leader with Dee Sea Scouts. He watched Matt grow from a boy to a lovely man. They kept in touch over the years. Matt would turn up at the door and he and Henry would remember the camps, treks and mad scapes they got into while scouting. I know Matt missed Henry a lot when he passed on and the words of wisdom or not that he passed on. It is nice to think Henry and Matt are together in Heaven listening to Dire Straits again. RIP Matt, with love

I remember a time when you were five being on the Liverpool ferry and it was very wet and windy I held you to stop you being blown away and to make sure you were safe. I knew you had a love for boats and the sea. I remember your visits when you were in your late teens and the beautiful smile that reminds me of a bright sunny day and the laughs we had . It’s not good bye it never will but see you again fly high my lovely fly high enjoy your new adventures you will be missed deeply.
