To Carey, Amy, Lucy and Grace and all the wider Marsden family. I send heartfelt condolences to you all on your sad loss. Bruce and I were close mates in our younger years and there was never a more gentle, warm and quietly empathetic human being on the whole planet. Although we didn’t see so much of each other in recent years, I shall miss his mischievous humour and his quiet friendship greatly. Dear Bruce you were a truly gentle man. May you rest in peace.  Tony

WE met Bruce at the Rose and Crown, where he would call in on his way home from work, and sit with his I pad working away. We also knew him from Storeton woods where we would see him walking his Dalmatians. He would fuss over our dogs in the pub. A kind and gentle man , with his heart definitely in the right place. We send our condolences to his family and wish them well.

A very long time ago I ‘saw practice’ at Jones, Straughan and Marsden Vets in Birch Road – a mixed practice back then where Bruce was the main companion animal vet, soon joined in the partnership by Phil Shepherd. The team were very supportive to me, then a very young, slightly shy schoolboy wannabe vet. Their approach was always practical, kind and encouraging, both to me and always to their clients and patients. The can-do attitude and first class general practice approach taught me well and set me up for a great career in first opinion veterinary care. I was very saddened to hear the news about Bruce. A very kind, decent man, and a credit to his profession. I wish his family well.
