Irene was mum’s lifelong friend, and with Tod, became great friends with dad too, and a Godmother and “aunty” to me.

I will always remember the smile and laugh that lit up rooms, her stylish clothes, and above all the kindness that with Tod always held a warm welcome to their beautiful home, for all friends and family alike.

I have a picture of Irene my mum and Val climbing in a tree when they were all 14, and mum has many a tale of those harum scarum days. Irene was the one who readily gave away her sweets in the pictures, and that just about says it all.

Joyce and Gordon pass on their fondest regards, and we are all so sorry that through circumstances beyond our control, we could not be there to say goodbye.

Irene was my father’s cousin. The link with her and her family, especially her mother, Aunt Jess, was very important to Dad.
Irene was a very gracious, elegant, hospitable and caring lady whose home was very welcoming. She was a lovely person who will be much missed.
I am thinking of all her family at this time, those who have gone before her, her devoted husband Tod, and her lovely parents and family, and sending love and very sincere condolences to Louise, Dave and Jessie.
