Ian will be sadly missed by all of us at Millbank. A true gentleman. He wore his grumpiness and bluster like a badge of honour, but it always came with a smile and a cheeky grin.

I want to add my deepest sympathy to Ian’s family and friends on the extremely sad passing of Ian. I was absolutely devastated to hear the sad news. Ian was such a great, great man, I have known Ian through our company for over 20 years, firstly through my colleague Doreen and then liaising with Ian myself. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Ian, he always went out of his way to help you, he was so easy talk to and he always made me laugh and smile – he was a pleasure to know. He is and will be very sadly missed. I feel lucky to have known him. God Bless you Ian, my heart goes out to Barbara and his family xxx Sue Ball (Balfour Beatty Rail, Liverpool)

Ian was a great man, he started me at Mowlem after I left school in the drawing office back in the days of YTS schemes and office full of drawing boards and smokers, he taught me all I needed to know and more. Ian, myself and a few of the others from the office often went to Wales for the WRC Rally meeting up at Stewarts for bacon butties. Ian was a great friend and will be sadly missed. My thoughts and condolences to Barb and the family.

To Barbara and family,
Thinking of you all today.
Ian and I worked at Unilever Research in 1980’s and then I have had the pleasure of working with him at Millbank for the last 10 years. We quite often used to chat about LFC ,Scotland, the Wirral and theatre shows.
You don’t need me to tell you that he will be sadly missed xx Take care
